During the open season, thousands of devotees from all over India and abroad visit the temple to offer their prayers and seek blessings from Lord Vishnu.

Gangotri is one of the four dhams in the Char Dham Yatra. It is a town and a nagar panchayat in Uttarkashi district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. The holy river Ganges originates here, flowing through it before flowing into Nepal and then into Bangladesh. Gangotri Temple was built by King Dilipa Deva Raya (13th century), who came here after his father Prataparudra I defeated Sultan Nasiruddin Khalji during his invasion through Kumaon region during 1301 AD until 1306 AD; he also established several other temples around this region including Dwarka Sahib Gurudwara at Dehra Dun which is visited by many people every year during Vaisakhi festival celebrated every spring season since 1947 when Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji stayed there for few months after being freed from captivity following execution order issued by Emperor Aurangzeb himself due to non compliance with Muslim law forbidding Hindus from entering Muslim dominated areas without permission

Kedarnath closing date
